Like in the book
Outside, it's long been dark. Wrapped in a blanket, she sits there and reads her book. The words draw her deeper into the story until the lines blur and she's suddenly right in the middle of it.
She stands on the edge of the road as a car stops. He gets out and their eyes meet. She immediately recognizes him. That calm smile, that gaze that lingers on her for a moment longer. And just like that, that inexplicable flutter is back.
Then the scene changes.
Warm light, muted music, and the soft clinking of glasses. She sits with him in a bar. They know each other better by now, but there's still that spark between them that grows a little stronger with every encounter.
His arm brushes against hers. As he leans in towards her, she feels his breath on her ear. She turns her head and suddenly they're dangerously close. His gaze drifts to her lips before he looks back into her eyes. That small, knowing smile almost drives her crazy.
His hand rests on her waist. She feels the warmth of his f****rs through the fabric, moves closer, and lets her hand rest in the back of his neck. For a moment, they simply hold each other's gaze.
Then there's no hesitation anymore.
His lips meet hers. At first, gentle, then full of longing. She pulls him closer as his hand glides over her back. The music around them fades into insignificance. There's only this closeness, the warmth of his skin, and the feeling that all the unspoken desires finally find their way.
One kiss follows another. Her f****rs get tangled in his hair, his smile grazes her lips before he kisses her again. She loses all sense of time. Of what's happening outside. Of everything that's not him.
The images become faster, the boundaries between dream and reality blur. His arms around her, their bodies close together, this fire that can't be hidden with a smile anymore. She lets go, surrenders the last bit of control, and enjoys every moment as if there's nothing that could hold her back.
And then…
she opens her eyes.
Her breathing quickens, the blanket has slipped, and the book still lies on her lap. For a moment, she needs to realize where she is.
Then she sets the book aside and smiles.
Who would have thought that a few lines could take her so far?
She pulls the blanket around herself again and leans back. The fire in her thoughts hasn't quite gone out yet.
And maybe it doesn't need to.
